Valentine's Day
Written by Diana Wild
I can't get high enough to forget
Tomorrow is valentine's day.
That heartless reminder of days that were kinder
When love was not 10,000 miles away.
Robert sent Rita some roses today
Her desk was the talk of the towers.
She was all smiles as they lined up for miles
They all lined up to smell Rita's flowers.
I can't get high enough to forget
Tomorrow is Valentine's day
That heartless reminder, when you're alone in the diner
And love is 10,000 miles away.
The Jones' are taking a romantic cruise
On a river that winds through the trees
They'll rock on the water, get hotter and hotter.
Tipsy and bubbly and free...Yeah! Free!
I can't get high enough to forget
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day
That heartless reminder of days that were kinder
When love was not 10,000 miles away
When love was not 10,000 miles away
On Valentine's day...

The Gap
Written by Diana Wild
The gap was getting wider, you cringed in the light
So, on somethin' like a raven
You glided out....
Into the darkest night.
You put your faith in reason
And closed up heaven's doors
Now the fickle wind of reason has blown you back
To my sunny shores.
You came in and locked the doors
(the birds sang in the trees)
Drew the shades a little more
(there was a warm spring breeze)
And then one day....you glided out the door.
And then one day....you glided out...........
Into the darkest night.

Balance on a Rimrock
Written by Diana Wild
When I retired to this little prairie town
I climbed up on a rimrock
And a cold strong wind blew me down.
And just when I was feelin' kinda happy and free,
A deer ate all my flowers, and my new apple tree.
It's a rough and rock landscape underneath a big blue sky
With fields of gold so beautiful that a tear falls from my eye.
I picked up a paintbrush, spread some blue and then some gold
Filled in with a little green and a picture began to unfold
I realized, like life itself, land has it's ups and downs
Spring grass on the prairie, 'till winter mows it down.
It's a rough and rocky landscape underneath a big blue sky
With fields of gold so beautiful that a tear falls....from my eye.
It's been this way for all these years, the smiles and then the frowns,
Sunsets knock your socks off
And cold strong winds can knock you down.
I wake up in the mornin', no surprises, no dreams
Just take life as it happens, never worry about what it means.
It's a rough and rocky landscape underneath a big blue sky
With fields of gold so beautiful, that a tear falls from my eye.
Oh, yes, the fields are beautiful and a tear is falling....
From my eye.

Lean Into It
Written by Diana Wild
Drop your bucket way down in the well
Dip you up a little taste of hell
You might as well.
When the wind is travelin' through your town
Blowin' mighty sinful
And you're lyin' in bed, covers over your head
Don't know if you won't or if you will.
Drop your bucket way down in the well
Dip you up a little taste of hell
You might as well.
When the wind is tearin' off the roof
Lean into that howlin' gale
Don't you miss a chance to do your dreamy dance,
Swing your pitchfork, swing your tail...and
Drop your bucket way down in the well
Dip you up a little taste of hell
You might as well.
Lean into that warm wind, feel the sweet heat
Listen to the wind chimes,
Playin' for the good times,
Feel that dreamy dance movin' your feet...and
Drop your bucket way down in the well
Dip you up a little taste of hell,
You might as well.

Pines
Written by Diana Wild
I made if out of Knoxville, it took a long, long time
Finally moved my heart away
But sometimes, I still sit and pine.
There's pining in the folded notes passed from hand to hand
There's pining in the newspapers down at the corner stand.
And the pining gets even better when the wind bends the trees
Pine needles flying, floating down
The crystal clear mountain streams.
I packed my suitcase when I left, left the rest behind.
I didn't want all that ragged stuff, but
Sometimes, I still sit and pine.
There's pining in the mournful songs played by mournful bands,
There's pining at the microphones in joints across the land,
And the pining gets even better when the sun does it's thing
And shines it's light on all of us who joyful, mournful, sing.
Looking back in history at all those written lines
I know I'm not the only one who sometimes
Sits and pines.
There's pining in the paintings that hang on walls across the land,
There's pining in the dog-eared notebooks in the backs of rusty vans,
And the pining gets even better when the rain fills the streams
And pours down mountains into valleys and washes away
Those burning memories.
I won't go back to Knoxville, no more flashing neon signs
I'm moving to the mountains
To live among.....the ponderosa pines.

Glow in the Dark
Written by Diana Wild
I waited years for a chance to be near you,
Get myself jailed in your cell.
But just as the door slammed
I recalled a vision from hell
And I couldn't do it, I couldn't, for your sake
I was afraid of breaking you,
Afraid...I would break.
Either way I'm broken hearted
Unless we succeed where others have failed,
Glow in the dark where others have paled.
I see your shadow pass by your window,
Shoulders turned down toward the ground.
And I want to lift you, fly you, sail you around.
But I couldn't do it, I couldn't...for your sake.
I was afraid of breaking you,
Afraid...I would break.
Either way I'm broken hearted
Unless we succeed where others have failed,
Glow in the dark where others have paled.
Can we glow in the dark where others have paled?

Moondust
Written by Diana Wild
I used to stare up at the moon at night
And think about the earth spinning
But that was thirteen trillion stars ago
During a battle I was winning.
Now I carry the flag of honor but I'm feelin' kinda funny
Moonglow spread over barstools, wasted money.
Play me along with your stories
Deal from a pack of lies
Pump the moon so full it pops
And falls into our eyes.
Moondust fell from way out there, I could not cry it out
Moonglow lights on silver hair, I could not brush it out.
Golden light, shards of sky, reflected in our eyes.
What's behind your lovely glow? will the curtain ever rise?
What's behind your lovely glow? and will the curtain ever rise?

Cozy Communion
Written by Diana Wild
I handed everything I had to you
Now I must move on.
You helped me empty out our home,
the one where the heart is gone.
You didn't even stand on the porch and wave your lonesome fist,
You let me drive the van away, the one where we first kissed,
High up on a mountain, love flowin' like a fountain.
Yodel ay e hoo...yodel ay e hoo.
I didn't hear you holler "come back here, my love"
Or request our souls' reunion,
Nor cry out for another chance to roll around
In a cozy communion.
You didn't even stand on the porch and wave your lonesome fist,
You let me drive the van away, the one where we first kissed,
High up on a mountain...love flowin' like a fountain.
Yodel ay e hoo.....yodel ay e hoo.
I handed everything I had to you,
Now I must move on.
No rain today, the air is clear,
No right, no wrong.
You didn't even stand on the porch and wave your lonesome fist
You let me drive the van away, the one where we first kissed,
High up on a mountain, love flowin' like a fountain.
Yodel ay e hoo....yodel aye hoo...

Flashback
Written by Diana Wild
Earth is spinning out the time. Heart is running way behind.
Flashback 30 years, remember all those salty tears.
He laughed when he meant to cry, tried everything to keep his high.
Loved the smokey, whiskey kind.... they were always on his mind.
Now he's like a tumbleweed, fragile bone, slender reed,
Hollow map of where he's been. He's been picked up by the wind.
Sun is sending out the rays, burning down another day.
He flies free of the fire, spins out like a circus flyer.
Now he's back to try again. Says he's gonna practice Zen.
Clears his mind, sets it free....underneath the bohdi tree.
Earth is spinning out the time, heart is lagging way behind.
Flashback 3 million years, remember all those salty tears.
Ocean of Tears...
Ocean, fishes, birdies, all those green things that grow, all those little salty things that crawl, mammals,
Ocean.
